The Demon Girl's Song by Susan Jane Bigelow

I struggled with this. I just found it hard to relate to. Obviously though, plenty of others loved it.
Basically the main character, Andin and subsequently the plot, did not draw me in. I took 7 days to read this. If I'd been engaged I would have taken a couple of hours.
Because so many others were so positive, I can only conclude that this book was not a good fit for me.

Murder in the Cloister ( Christine de Pizan Mystery #4)   by Tania Bayard             ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Murder and more in an ancient French priory near Paris. A Religious House supported by the King of France. An interesting medieval mystery read in terms of the history of the times and the widespread beliefs about sorcery. Christine de Pizan is tasked by King Charles VI, upon the request of the Dominican Prioress, to journey to the Royal Priory of Saint-Louis at Poissy, ostensibly to to copy an important manuscript and  visit her daughter who has taken orders there.  Christine knows there's more to the matter. The Priory has no need of her expertise, having plenty in house. She will be accompanied by Brother Michel from the Abbey of Saint-Denis and Henri de Picart.  Christine is warned by a member of Queen Isabeau's retinue that, ‘Something is wrong at Poissy, and they’re willing to do what the prioress asks because they’re concerned for t...

Cast a Cold Eye  (A Jimmy Dreghorn Mystery #2) by Robbie Morrison     ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Glasgow 1933. Inspector Jimmy Dreghorn and his partner “Bonnie” Archie McDaid, part of the Glasgow’s Special Crime Squad, find themselves in the middle of a situation with Irish Free State fighters, the razor gangs suddenly meeting together, Special Branch up from London messing on their patch, and three murders, or rather assassinations. The only visible link between the deaths being the method of executions. When Dreghorn and McDaird find the reasons behind the murders it’s explosive. All men were ex-Black and Tan operatives in Ireland at a place called Tralee, all men left under a cloud. Payback maybe? For what specifically? The Special Crime Squad are told in no uncertain terms to stay out of the way of Special Branch operatives. The trouble is things keep linking back to the Irish and the selling of illegal Irish Hospital Sweepstake tickets  taking place. The gangs are offloading t...

Storm Tide  (Mike Bowditch Mysteries #16) by Paul Doiron          ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A tale in four seasons. Action explodes off every page  Maine game warden, Mike Bowditch, is first on scene at a house fire. A woman is holding a baby. Mike goes into the inferno and brings out a man who dies. A woman inside has already died. (Previously Mike has been demoted from Warden Investigator to patrolling game warden.) The dead couple are suspected of killing a young boy, their son. Nothing is ever proved but the couple are pariahs in the town. Mike little suspect he’ll be caught up in vigilantism, more deaths, and a grudge going back decades. I love that he has a trusty wolf hybrid, Shadow, to assist. His wife Stacey is an emergency medical technician. A fast moving, nerve wracking read.
