Betrayed!

A Lady Never Surrenders (Sisterhood of Scandal #1) by Bronwen Evans

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tiffany Deveraux had made an art of disappearing into a crowd. The effectiveness of being a wallflower was one she carried off with aplomb, intelligence and astuteness. No-one, except her friends, knew she had an incisive mathematical mind and had taken their pin money, invested it, and was so profitable, that she for one, would be able to have an annual income to live off in a place far from prying eyes.

Mr Sprat, her stockjobber had been tardy with her accounts, so in widow’s weeds she payed him a visit at the London Stock Exchange. Scandalous!

Unfortunately Lord Slade Ware, the Marquess of Wolfath, her guardian Fane Deveraux, the Earl of Marlow’s closest friend, discovers her there.

Ever since she’d been carried into her uncle’s house at seventeen, distraught at the death of her parents at the hands of highway men, she’d carried a torch for Wolf.

Now Wolf is seeing Tiffany for who she really is and is weighing up the idea of marrying her. A marriage of convenience for him and to his mind, Tiffany as well. Tiffany has other plans. Wolf is not part of that, but he’s standing squarely in the doorway of all her dreams.

What’s a girl to do but to try and get around the hand now dealt to her. Tiffany will not settle for anything less than love. But has the damaged Wolf any love to give?

A somewhat convoluted tale of Second chance love (for Wolf) and Marriage of convenience trope meeting somewhere in the middle.

An exciting beginning to the new series, Sisters of Scandal.
